We like to do things a little differently—like turning prevention into a plan. Spaying helps reduce the risk of mammary (breast) cancer and eliminates the risk of pyometra (a life-threatening uterine infection). If you’ve been putting it off, October is your moment.
Who is this for?
- Dogs & cats 3 years and older who are not yet spayed
- New or current patients welcome (an exam may be required before scheduling surgery)
Why it matters
- Dogs: Spaying before/around first heat greatly reduces mammary tumor risk; later spay still helps lower risk.
- Cats: Early spay significantly reduces risk; most feline mammary tumors are malignant, so prevention counts.
- Spay surgery also prevents pyometra in adult females.
