Christin

Christin Schaefer, DVM

Associate Veterinarian

Born and raised in the farm town of Hartville, Ohio, Dr. Christin is the proud middle child of three sisters—which means she’s naturally both a peacemaker and a little bit feisty. Her love for animals started early and ran deep, but she initially put her veterinary dreams on hold out of fear. It took a traumatic life experience—and the healing power of the human-animal bond—to bring her full circle. The unconditional love and comfort she received from animals during her recovery sparked a fire in her: to give back to the ones who gave her so much.

Education & Credentials

Dr. Christin earned her associate’s degree in general sciences from Stark State Community College, followed by a bachelor’s in biology with a minor in chemistry from the University of Akron. She completed her DVM at St. George’s University. She’s USDA Category II accredited, CPR certified, and an honorary member of Phi Zeta, the national veterinary honor society.

Veterinary Interests

Passionate about surgery and intrigued by integrative medicine, Dr. Christin loves combining science and creativity in patient care. She’s trained in modalities like acupuncture, laser therapy, herbal medicine, and nutrition. Her career started in mixed animal practice—meaning she’s treated everything from dogs, cats, and birds to goats, cows, and turtles. If it has fur, feathers, or scales, she’s probably helped it (and probably has a story about it).

These days, she’s thrilled to focus on small animal care, with a strong belief in building trust through compassion, teamwork, and just the right amount of sarcasm.

Life Outside the Clinic

Dr. Christin’s life is full—of laughter, love, and fur. She and her husband Clayton are raising two spirited daughters, Hollis and Claira, along with a house full of rescue pets: two giant Newfoundlands, Norman and Betty (foster fails), a retired racing Greyhound named Cutie (also a foster fail), and Bubble the cat (spoiler alert: rescue). Yes, she has a soft spot for the underdogs (literally).

When she’s not in scrubs, you’ll find her doing DIY home projects, getting crafty, adventuring outdoors, or planning her next travel escape. She’s the perfect blend of grit, heart, and humor—and we’re lucky to have her as part of the My Vet family.
